Resp sir.
I am relatively new to joomla. This is my first post in this forum.
I need Jevents to translate in my own language (Assamese), so I tried to do myself.
i have translate "en-GB.com_jevents.ini file from the dir
/components/com_jevents/language/
and over write it with the original, but i didnt got any result, where I have done wrong ? I edited with with notepad++ previously saved as "Encode with UTF8 without BOM" but later saved as "Encode with UTF8" still now working. where I have done mistake ?
I have attached my edited file with this post, please spare few mins and have look in to it.
Another query
# format of repeat text: 1 = follow english word order
JEV_REPEAT_GRAMMAR=1

what should I put in place of REPEAT_GRAMMAR value ? I have seen in some other file it is change to 2 from 1.
thanking you

You have to put the translated file in another folder!
The translation has to be placed in the language folder in your Joomla root directory. In the language folder should ba a folder in your language (according to en-EN). This is the place to put your translation in.

And you have to rename the en-EN of the language file to your language.

WOW !
It is working now. but digits are still in english, anyway so far so good.
Many many thanks for your help. See how noob I am in this field....
But fonts look small in firefox. can u give suggession for it ?
While saving i am confused with few things like save files as UFT-8 NO BOM means what ? save as only UFT-8 this option or UFT-8 without BOM ?
I am really excited to see my first translation :)
If i rename the file to as-IN (as it should according to ISO ) how it will recognized by Jevents ?

Great to hear that it is working now.

Ad for the encoding: I use UFT-8

When you rename the file and put it in the folder I told you, JEvents will recognize it automatically. I'm running my page in German and English, depending on what version I call in the frontpage the according language file is loaded.

I don't think there is a way to express numbers other than as 0123456789 - do you know if PHP support other numeric systems?

What looks small? The text under the icons?

Try adding this to your template stylesheet

tr.icon_labels {
font-size:9pt;
}

If you upload the translation to a new topic in the translations forum - that would be great.

Is there a Joomla translation for the Assamese language? If there is you should install that first.

I would suggest a good place to start by reading http://community.joomla.org/translations.html

and I would recommend using the Joomla translations manager.

See http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/1776/details

Good luck with the translation.
